Sound Reduction & Vibration Isolation

Sound Reduction & Vibration Isolation

Altra Custom Manufacturing Inc. sound reduction and vibration isolation solutions are designed to minimize noise and mechanical vibration from rooftop equipment. These systems improve building comfort and protect structural integrity.

Using advanced acoustic materials, these solutions absorb and reduce sound while limiting vibration transfer. This enhances equipment performance and reduces wear.

Compatible with a wide range of rooftop systems, these products provide an effective solution for controlling noise and vibration in commercial environments.

The products in our Sound Reduction and Vibration Isolation line are specifically designed to be used with our roof curb and equipment support products to reduce both sound and vibration generated by rooftop equipment.

Pate Sound Curb (PSC)
The Pate Sound Curb is an in-curb sound reduction treatment that was engineered to reduce noise generated by small supply and exhaust fans. The PSC uses in-curb acoustical baffles to reduce airborne pressure pulses (unwanted noise). The baffles have a high specific gravity, allowing for maximum absorption of sound waves.
  • Performance testing, using the ASTM E90-09 test procedure, demonstrated a sound rating of STC11
  • Sound reduction of up to 18 dB was achieved in specific frequency ranges
  • 1″ thick accoustic barrier is both fire and water resistant

Pate Sound Shield (PSS)
The Pate Sound Shield is an acoustic treatment that reduces radiated sound through roof-mounted equipment curbs. The treatment reduces noise radiated into an occupied space by all sources within rooftop units, including supply and exhaust fans, compressors, and condenser fans. The PSS is comprised of an industry-leading batten layer (with an R-value of 8.0) and a flexible acoustic barrier, which can be applied inside a variety of Pate curbs – including plenum and non-plenum curbs – and can be installed at the Pate factory or by contractors in the field.

  • Sound reduction from 10 – 75 dB
  • Ratings from STC27 STC5
